Springfield, IL … This afternoon, the members of the Illinois House Representatives took their oath of office as the newly elected legislature. The inauguration, which was held at the University of Illinois – Springfield, marks the commencement of Illinois’ 99th General Assembly.
Representative McAuliffe (R-Chicago) was among those 118 members of the House to be sworn into office and was honored to be able to continue to serve the constituents of the 20th District:
“Today marks a new day in Illinois and I am truly humbled at the opportunity to remain the voice of the residents of my district. While we gather in celebration, we must not forget that there is plenty of work ahead for the General Assembly,” explained Rep. McAuliffe.
The beginning of this year’s legislative session also marks the first time in 12 years that Illinois will be led by a Republican Governor.
“I look forward to working with Governor Rauner and am eager to work with his office in fixing the dire financial situation in which we are faced,” continued McAuliffe.
Representative McAuliffe represents Illinois’ 20th House District which includes all or portions of Chicago, Park Ridge, Rosemont, Norridge, Harwood Heights, Schiller Park, Niles and Franklin Park.
