IL Licenses Still Good For Use at Airports

Illinois air travelers won a nearly two-year reprieve to use their driver’s licenses and identification cards to get through airport security and onto a plane, despite the state’s continuing failure to adopt more stringent federal standards for issuance of its IDs.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Friday afternoon announced that air travelers with driver’s licenses or ID cards issued by states and territories that are not in compliance with Real ID Act standards can continue to use those cards until Jan. 22, 2018.
